A wood stove fitted without a compliant flue will not be funded, however good the appliance. Insulation carried out at the same time as a heating swap pays better than the two jobs done separately, provided they are declared in the right order. Order sometimes matters more than amount.

Hence the detail: grants on wood stoves and biomass, energy saving certificates applied to insulation, and the preparatory work installers rarely put on the quote. The chimney flue is part of that, and it is the line that sends budgets off the rails.
